This so-called "blender" tone knob works like a standard reverse stroke 250K volume knob. This so-called "blender" potentiometer works like a "mixer" and mixes 2 audio sources into one: Connect one or more microphones to it in order to control the individual volume mix in addition to the general volume.

It functions as a secondary volume potentiometer. With a 3 or 5 position selector, you can thus in position 1, mix the volume of the neck pickup pickup to the bridge pickup and vice versa on position 3 and 5 of the selector.
